HOW TO BE A BETTER STUDENT

By: Morgan Peden

It’s only a few weeks into the new year, yet schoolwork has come back in full force. During times like these, it’s usually important to be a good student. However, it’s not all about being good. That’s not improvement. Improvement is to be better.

Here are some ways that you can become a better student:

  1. Eat healthy meals, breakfast is important: In general people who don’t eat breakfast get irritable, restless, and tired. Teens and kids who eat breakfast have more energy, eat healthier throughout the day, and do better in school.
  2. Stay organized: Being organized has many benefits. One of the most important benefits is reduced stress. Simply having a accordion folder can help reduce clutter and losing papers. Without proper organization tasks pile up and assignments can get lost.
  3. Turn in work on time: Even through procrastination seems to be the better option at the time, turning in work on time is better for you in the long run. It’s important to have the willpower to do work as soon as it is received. Also, after you finish your work you can have time for your hobbies or other things you enjoy!
  4. Get enough sleep: Teens are at an important stage where they need more sleep. The average teen needs about nine hours of sleep. Regular and restful sleep is important for good health. Sleep helps you feel less stressed. Sleep deprivation can affect your mood, energy, ability to learn, memory, good judgement, reaction time and efficiency.
