We are only a few weeks into the new year, and there may not be much to do. If you have nothing to do and are trying to occupy yourself, here are some ideas of ways to start off your new year.

  1. Is one of your resolutions to be more organized? If so then this pencil holder craft is perfect for you.

Step one: Wash out a soup can of your choice.

Step two: Decorate it with wrapping paper or markers.

Step three: Put your pencils in the can.

Step four: Place on your desk as a pencil organizer.

  1. Are you having trouble keeping your new year’s resolutions? If you are here are some tips on how to keep your resolutions.
  • Don’t overload yourself. If you have multiple resolutions then make sure you do them one at a time taking each one slowly.
  • Don’t give up. If you mess up in the beginning then keep trying until you get it.
  • If you have a lot going on and you don’t have time for your resolution don’t put it to the side. Just don’t have it be your main priority until you can focus on it more.
  • Don’t make resolutions that you know you can’t keep. Make resolutions that are realistic, and easy to keep. You always want to start small.
  1. Have you been wanting to try something new? The new year is a perfect time to do so.  From new parks to restaurants there is a lot of new things to try in the city of Houston.
  2. Travel and explore new places. Either over the weekend, breaks, or the summer you can go travel the great outdoors. I’m not talking about flying all the way around the world to another country, you can simply just travel Texas or Houston. You probably don’t know what great adventures are waiting for you out there, so pack your bags and hit the road. It is time for a road trip!
  3. Do you have a bucket list? The new year is a great time to start crossing some of those things off. Whether it’s seeing the Eiffel Tower or running a marathon, you can start small and do as much as you can.
  4. Have you ever volunteered somewhere? Even if you have it is still a great way to spend your new year. From volunteering at your local animal shelter to a big organization, like the Houston Food Bank, any volunteering just makes you feel good about yourself.

I hope you got some good ideas of how to spend your new year. Now maybe you won’t be so bored and have something to do with yourself.
