PIN OAK SPRINTS INTO TRACK SEASON

PIN OAK SPRINTS INTO TRACK SEASON

By: Bernardo Jimenez

Track is one of the sports here at Pin Oak, available to 7th and 8th grade boys and girls. Track consists of running, jumping, and throwing and started mid-January. Practice is Monday through Thursday after school from 3:50 to 5:30.

Track is lead by Coach Merz from 7C, Coach Riegler from 8B, and Coach Grantham from 6B. Shotput is also an activity in track and is lead by Coach Neil. During any regular day, runners will run outside at the soccer field and the softball field. If it is raining or too cold, runners will run inside, using Main street.  On a typical day practice is started by stretching and form running. Then athletes move on to the specific activity for that day like sprints or laps.

Practice is hard and athletes have to push themselves to get better. The more they push, the more muscle is worked and the faster athletes get.
