6TH GRADERS COMMENT ON NEW SCHOOL

6TH GRADERS COMMENT ON NEW SCHOOL

By: Arman Razzaque

Every year, 6th graders have the challenging experience of coming into middle school for the first time. Getting your locker combination, schedule memorization, and making new friends have weren’t easy for any of us.

The Pin Oak Press asked some of the 6th graders how they have been getting used to middle school: One 6th grader from Kolter Elementary told us, ”The switch to Pin Oak was very different than what we had in Colter; getting to class on time was pretty hard too. I have to remember where all of my classes are and have to go back to my locker, get my stuff and go to class all in 5 minutes.”

On the other hand, another student from River Oaks Elementary told us, “The change hasn’t been too hard. I’ve been coming to classes on time and have been able to do well. The only thing that has been kind of hard was that I don’t have the friends from River Oaks.”

When you see the 6th graders from the 1st day of school, you can tell that they aren’t ready but now they have gotten better at this “whole middle school thing.” 6th graders now (mostly) have gotten new friends, been able to use their lockers, and get to class on time.
