HOW TO BAKE FRESH BREAD

Bread is something we eat almost everyday, but have you ever wanted to make it yourself? This recipe is for making bread that we call fresh bread. It is a grandmother’s recipe who is from Thun, Switzerland.

Ingredients you need to make the bread are:

  • 500 grams of flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ cup of warm water
  • 1 teaspoon of yeast
  • ¼ teaspoon of sugar
  • 150 grams of unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup of milk
  • 1 egg
  • Black caraway seeds

 

These are the steps to make the bread:

  1. First, you have to take the bowl of a stand mixer off and take out 500 hundred grams of flour in it.
  2. Then, you have to add 1 teaspoon of salt into the bowl.
  3. Take a seperate cup, and pour ¼ cup of warm water in it.
  4. Add 1 teaspoon of yeast into the cup.
  5. Add ¼ teaspoon of sugar into the cup.
  6. Take another bowl, put 150 grams of butter in it, and put it in the microwave until it melts.
  7. Add ¾ cup of milk to the butter.
  8. Pour the yeast and butter mixture, into the flour and put the bowl back onto the stand mixer.
  9. Mix it, first at the setting 2, and then at 4, until it is very soft and there is nothing left on the sides.
  10. Then, let the mixture rise for one hour.
  11. After one hour, split the batter into about eight pieces. Take each piece, roll it out, and tie it into a knot.
  12. Beat an egg and take a spoon or a cooking brush and paint the egg over each roll.
  13. Sprinkle black caraway seeds over each roll.
  14. Put it in the oven for 20 minutes at a temperature of 40 degrees celsius.
  15. Take it out and enjoy a plate of fresh bread.
