COOL PHONES ANNOUNCED
COOL PHONES ANNOUNCED
By: Shaan Desai
Every year, Mobile World Congress is held for phone manufacturers to show off the latest and greatest of smartphones. There were many cool phones announced by many different companies. These are some of the coolest phones announced at MWC.
Samsung Galaxy Fold
The Galaxy Fold was announced by Samsung as an innovation in smartphones. It was a phone you could fold open into a 7-inch tablet. As we start doing more things on our phones, screens need to get bigger, and foldable phones like the Fold propose an answer to this. Unfortunately, the future is expensive. The Galaxy Fold will retail for $1980.
Huawei Mate X
At MWC, another foldable phone was announced by the Chinese company Huawei. The Mate X has some advantages over the Galaxy Fold. For one, the Mate X has 5G cellular connectivity, making it ready for the future. Also, instead of folding closed, the Mate X folds open so that the screen(s) are always on the outside of the phone, providing for easy access. Again, there’s a catch. The phone will retail for approximately $2600.
LG G8 ThinQ
LG newest phone, the G8 ThinQ, is very similar to some of LG’s previous phones. But instead of going with a new, improved design, the G8 decides to just add a few cool features. For example, LG added what’s called a Crystal Sound OLED, which allows the phone to vibrate the display to make sound, rather than using a traditional earpiece. The G8 also uses a 3D-motion sensor, allowing you to use certain gestures to control certain aspects of the phone like volume. The price has not been announced yet.
Nokia 9 PureView
The Nokia 9 PureView has something that no other phone has – 5 cameras. Yes, that wasn’t a typo, I said 5. The most expensive iPhone right now has 2 cameras. The inclusion of the 5 cameras allows the phone to take 5 photos at once, and then combine the photos to create one super-high quality photo. The 9 PureView is expected to cost $699.
These phones announced give us a look at what the near future could be like. Which one do you think is the coolest? Leave your thoughts at pinoakpress.org.
